I had forgotten to mention the memorial in Berlin to the burning of the books. Any books the Nazi's felt were unsuitable to their cause or disagreed with their ideologies were burned, along with any books by Jewish authors. The memorial is on the site of the burning and is an underground empty space with empty book shelves which represents all th books that should have been and were destroyed. The strange thing was the memorial was in the middle of a Fashion exhibition. The memorial is lit up from underneath and you can walk on the glass.
Memorials in Berlin are austere, stark and often in places that you have to really search to find.
