Waiting at the airport for our flight later on today. This morning we walked in the 100 degree heat from the hotel to the museum. We participated in several seminars about artifacts and photographs. Looking at the photos from a different view point, one needs to consider who took the photo and why. Many photos were 'staged' by the Nazi's but they do not detract from the impact to the viewer as to its content, however, one must think about what is in the photos and why they were taken. Many photos were taken clandestinely by Jewish prisoners and often were hidden. The photos we looked at included views of Jews that displayed hope, love of culture, religion and family. The Nazi's sought to dehumanize the Jews- as shown often in the photographs they took, and the Jewish photographers embraced the individual, and the humanity that was never lost.
