Sunday at the center is fun day, it was not exactly like this the last time I was here Subdays were quiet and the center was virtually empty. Now it is vibrant and active and full of laughter and kids! They come for games, dancing and relaxing. Some study for upcoming exams. I could not get over how the simple games of pick up sticks and Jack's were such as hit! Once they got the learning curve they were competing in ernest. Then they had students vs staff soccer game. So no batteries, no scrolling , just old time fun. Then Emmy came with me to visit Johnson and Noella and the new baby Mila . So proud of this young man, a survivor of genocide who has made his mark by. creating a new generation. He has to travel 7 hrs one way to his job so he sees his family only on the weekend. Fortunately tomorrow is national holiday for the presidential election, so Johnson has the day off. Paul Kagami will win again. They love him here. Emmy and Johnson connected and know some mutual people. Great conversation and I learned Emmy's parents were genocide survivors. He does not know the entire story as he was only 1 and his parents, as he put it,, are still too traumatized to talk about it. I started taking photos today and will post those that have to do with my day and others just because... tomorrow starts full day of teaching.
